Club News and Announcements
Welcome to the 2009-2010 badminton season!
Prime Time
Prime Time Play is being coined as the new term instead of Open Play to clear up the misconception of who is allowed to play during these times and what type of events can you play. The general rules for Prime Time Play are as follows:
-
No Singles Games are allowed unless there is no one waiting for a court
-
No Private Lessons are to be given
-
No Juniors are allowed to play unless they are approved by the junior coach (Andrew Ma) - There is a list of pre-approved juniors who can play. Any non-approved juniors who play during Prime Time must vacate the court if there are Adults waiting for the court
-
FAMILY PRIME TIME - Families are encouraged to come and play during this time along with any Juniors. During this time, all Juniors and Adults share the courts and no one is given priority

Court Time Rotation
Most of you are already aware of the new court rotation system that allows everyone 25 minutes on court at a time. As before, when no one is waiting, you may play as long as you like. But when we are busier, please adhere to the 25 minute time limit. Record the time when you go on court and your name; that way others know when you are expected off, so can sign up for the next available court accordingly. Erase your time when you come off court.
Scanning cards regularly has improved, but there are still a lot being missed. You must scan in every time you come in the door, no matter the time of day. We require the scanning for several reasons including tracking usage and insurance coverage.
As you may have noticed, the snow and salt is very messy and not good for court shoes or wooden floors. Please remember to always leave your outdoor boots/shoes at the door. Everyone’s socks will stay dry if you leave footwear on or beside the shelves provided.
The Board of Directors meets at 5:30 pm. the first Monday of each month. If you have new ideas for the club, or just want to be more involved in your club, feel free to attend. The Board is always open to new members, so please consider volunteering your time to participate in decision making.
And speaking of volunteering, there is lots to be done. We need help with cleaning, maintenance, and running tournaments. Remember, just 3 ½ hours of work over the year will give you full credit for the volunteer fee on renewal of your membership. It also makes the club a better place for all when more participate in its operation. See the Volunteer bulletin board for ideas on what you can do, or talk to Sheila at the front desk. There are lots more jobs that are waiting to be done than what is listed on the forms.
